Motorcycle Battery Warranty
Battery Empire – Warranty, Testing & Fault Assessment
Motorcycle AGM batteries are high-performance batteries with low tolerance for incorrect charging or storage. Most motorcycle warranty claims are caused by discharge from sitting, parasitic draw, or undercharging.
Flat does NOT mean faulty
If the battery is flat, that usually means it has been discharged by the bike or left sitting without a maintainer.
Before you claim warranty – do these checks
- If the bike has been sitting more than 1–2 weeks without a maintainer, assume discharge
- Check for accessories: alarms, USB chargers, trackers, heated grips
- Confirm the bike’s charging system is working
- If fitted, check the magic eye (if black/dark = discharged)
- If using a charger: confirm it is AGM compatible (not an old-school high-rate charger)
Why motorcycle batteries “die early”
- Bikes often sit unused
- Many bikes have a parasitic draw
- Short rides don’t recharge fully
- Incorrect chargers can damage AGM batteries
Common non-warranty causes (motorcycle AGM)
- Sitting unused without a maintainer
- Parasitic draw from accessories
- Faulty regulator/rectifier or charging system
- Overcharging or incorrect charging equipment
- Storage in a discharged state
What MAY be covered
If, after proper charging:
- It fails load testing
- It has an internal fault confirmed by testing
- It is within warranty period and used correctly
What is NOT covered
- Flat/discharged battery requiring recharge
- Damage due to sitting flat or long-term storage
- Incorrect chargers/charging rates
- Bike charging system faults
- Physical damage or modification
How Battery Empire tests motorcycle batteries
- Fully charge using AGM-appropriate charging profile
- Rest battery
- Load test and assess performance
Fees
Batteries found to be discharged or not faulty may incur a testing/recharge fee.
Bring-in requirements
- Proof of purchase required
- If possible, provide bike model/year and any accessories fitted
Battery Empire will always assess warranty claims fairly and in line with manufacturer guidelines. Where a claim is approved as a genuine manufacturer warranty, the cost is passed on to the supplier.
In goodwill or non-warranty situations, Battery Empire must absorb the full cost of replacement, which is not sustainable and cannot be offered as a standard outcome.
